Books: My Thoughts on The Borrow a Boyfriend Club

Image
The Borrow a Boyfriend Club by Page Powars My rating: 3 of 5 stars I am not someone who reads a lot of romance novels - romance manga, yes but novels, no. When I heard that this had a similar club to Ouran High School Host Club, I knew I had to read it. I loved Ouran High School Host Club but unfortunately, this did not reach the same level of enjoyment for me. I did listen to this one on audio because the narrator is the voice of Thoma in Genshin Impact. I thought the narration was good, but I did find myself being pulled out of the story multiple times. I had to refer to the ebook several times because I couldn't remember what I had listened to. Might just be how stressful my life is at the moment that is affecting my concentration, but this did not help my enjoyment of the story. In the end, this was still an entertaining read for me and I am glad that I was able to read it. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Have Yourself a Deadly Little Christmas (Year-Round Christmas Mystery 6)

Image
Have Yourself a Deadly Little Christmas by Vicki Delany My rating: 3 of 5 stars I didn't enjoy this one as much as the previous ones. I don't know if it's because the narrator of the audiobook changed or if it was because of how much we interacted with certain characters that I don't enjoy in this town, but it didn't hold the same festive feeling I usually get from this series. I will need to try and re-read it sometime physically and see if that experience improves the feel for me. A little disappointed, but this is still a series I enjoy and I look forward to future installments. View all my reviews

Finished Series: My Thoughts on Ghostly Things, Vol. 3

Image
Ghostly Things, Vol. 3 by Ushio Shirotori My rating: 3 of 5 stars With this being the final volume, I do feel this was an unsatisfying end to the series. We don't get all the answers to the mysteries and even the answers we do get are not complete. There were too many things revealed for a series this short and it feels like the mangaka didn't have as many volumes as they thought they would've? This probably could've been at least a 10 volume series with all the mysteries that arose throughout the story. I really enjoyed the art style and I do feel like our main character will continue to search for answers, however as a reader, we won't see that. I hate when I'm left with a lot of questions at the end of the story and I definitely feel that with this series. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Ghouls, Ghouls, Ghouls (Ghost Hunter Mysteries 5)

Image
Ghouls, Ghouls, Ghouls by Victoria Laurie My rating: 5 of 5 stars More like a 4.5 I still maintain that this is one of my favorite installments of this series. There were a few things that bothered me though this time around, that didn't bother me when I read this originally so I had to lower the rating a little. Still really enjoying my re-read of this series and am looking forward to continuing. View all my reviews

Light Novels: My Thoughts on My Happy Marriage Volume 4

Image
My Happy Marriage, Vol. 4 (light novel) (My Happy Marriage by Akumi Agitogi My rating: 4 of 5 stars I'm really enjoying this series. The reads are quick, the romance is wholesome, and there is a bit of mystery thrown in. Each installment Miyo gets stronger and more confident, but our couple are still having communication issues, which is slightly bothersome. That being said, I'm really looking forward to seeing what our couple will face in the next installment! View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Long Road to Mercy (Atlee Pine 1)

Image
Long Road to Mercy by David Baldacci My rating: 3 of 5 stars I read this one for my TBR Game Prompt: Mom Pick This was really slow to start for me. I previously read the author's King & Maxwell series and that one seems to have a better pace for me. I wasn't really interested in what was going on with the case either even after things picked up, however there were a few scenes there that were exciting. I will read the next one before I decide whether or not to finish this series as sometimes first books are not true representations of the series. It was entertaining, but the case just wasn't very interesting to me. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on One of Us Is Lying (One of Us Is Lying 1)

Image
One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus My rating: 4 of 5 stars I really enjoyed this one. It hooked me from the first chapter and kept me interested throughout. It definitely had that mysterious element that kept me guessing as to who was behind it all, even though I did believe that what had actually happened was a possibility all along. I'll definitely be continuing to the next installment and am looking forward to finding out what else happens in this series. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake 1)

Image
Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K. Hamilton My rating: 3 of 5 stars This was a re-read for me. I did not remember anything from the previous time I read it, so it felt like a new read. I do remember that I thought that this was just an ok read the first time, and I continue to think so. It was an entertaining read, but I can see why I didn't immediately continue to the next one the first time I read this. There is nothing really pulling me to the story at the moment. I will be continuing to the next one soon, as I need to figure out if I want to keep what I have of this series on my shelf. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Fetch (Five Nights at Freddy's: Fazbear Frights 2)

Image
Fetch by Scott Cawthon My rating: 3 of 5 stars Overall, I enjoyed this set of stories more than the first book. These stories felt more mysterious for me and gave the kids more of an opportunity to try to figure things out. The stories were entertaining and I think kids of the target age would really enjoy them. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Into the Pit (Five Nights at Freddy's Fazbear Frights 1)

Image
Into the Pit by Scott Cawthon My rating: 3 of 5 stars Entertaining, but doesn't have the feel of the novel series for me. Not all the stories take place at Freddy Fazbear's but they do all have animatronic characters involved. I think this would be a great read for the intended age though and definitely would give a creepy vibe. As an adult reading these though, these kids are very disrespectful to their parents/grandparents and that really irritated me. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Cherish (Crave 6)

Image
Cherish by Tracy Wolff My rating: 4 of 5 stars I've read and enjoyed most of this series this year and I am sorry that it's over, but the end to this series was missing a few things for me. Still an enjoyable and entertaining read but I wish we had just a little bit more with these characters. Books: My Thoughts on Out of the Earth (Out of the Earth 1)

Image
Out of the Earth by Jake Bible My rating: 3 of 5 stars This was entertaining, but there is a story line that I do not enjoy in the jumble. With everything that happens in this book, the story line that I'm not enjoying doesn't really seem to add anything to what's going on for me. I will be checking out the next installment to see how this story plays out, but I'm hoping the things that bothered me about this one won't amplify as we go forward. I did listen to the audiobook. The narrator was ok. He made it entertaining enough and kept me interested in what was going on. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Triptych (Will Trent 1)

Image
Triptych by Karin Slaughter My rating: 3 of 5 stars If I hadn't watched the TV show before reading this installment, I probably wouldn't continue with this series. There was a lot that happened in this one and it is understandable why the TV show does start here. Not sure if the author's writing is for me but I will continue to the next one to find out. I listened to the audiobook and I don't think I'm jiving with the narrator. The narration isn't bad but it didn't add to my experience with this story. Hopefully my experience with the next installment will be much better. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on The Dead Lifeguard (Fear Street Super Chiller 6)

Image
The Dead Lifeguard by R.L. Stine My rating: 4 of 5 stars More like a 3.5 Really fast read. Kept my interest with the way the chapters were situated. The end kind of felt abrupt, but made sense. I don't think I read this one before, but I do think I would've enjoyed this one a lot more if I had read it when I was a teen. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Fence: Disarmed (Fence Novels 2)

Image
Disarmed by Sarah Rees Brennan My rating: 4 of 5 stars I'm glad this ended the way I was hoping. There was almost too much drama for me though. The way that the chapters were situated really helped me get through this book because we were constantly changing perspectives. I also enjoyed that there was some fencing in this one, which I felt was missing from the first book. I'm really looking forward to reading the comics! View all my reviews

Image
The Man with the Glass Eye by Cole McCade My rating: 4 of 5 stars Really enjoyed this one, especially the action scenes towards the end. The author has carried over characters from the previous case here, which I thought was interesting. I'm definitely enjoying reading the physical copy more than listening to the audiobook as I don't enjoy how Malcolm and Seong-Jae are narrated. Looking forward to the next one! View all my reviews
