Finished Series: My Thoughts on Rich People Problems (Crazy Rich Asians #3)

Image
Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan My rating: 4 of 5 stars I enjoyed this series more than I thought I would've. I had avoided this series for so long due to hype, but there are definitely things that resonated with me and things I could relate to. The struggle of trying to live your life honestly and not understanding why that brings dishonor or shame to your family was a big one. There were things that bothered me though, which is why this series doesn't get the highest possible rating for me. There is a lot of spousal abuse mentioned that I was not okay with - not physical, but emotional and verbal. Vulgar language plays a big part in several conversations. Cheating spouses also is a prominent theme in this series. I listened to a majority of this series on audiobook and I highly recommend them. They are entertaining, enjoyable, and just give a life to this story and the characters that I wasn't getting when reading the physical book. View a

Books: My Thoughts on Ruined

Image
Ruined by Paula Morris My rating: 2 of 5 stars I've had this book on my To Read list for a while and finally got around to it. Unfortunately, it wasn't as enjoyable as I had hoped it would be. This book took me over a month to finish. I really should've DNF'd it since I put it down for several weeks and didn't have a want to pick it back up. I was on my last renewal of this book with my library, and decided to finish it up since I had less than 100 pages to go. I feel like the story did progress quite a bit towards the end, but it wasn't enough to push the level of enjoyment up for me. The twist at the end wasn't really surprising to me and I disliked the reasoning for a lot of the secrecy and actions that were taken. I was surprised to discover this is the first book in a duology, as I feel like the story is contained in this installment. That being said, I will not be reading the second book, though I may try another boo

Books: My Thoughts on The Demon King (Seven Realms #1)

Image
The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima My rating: 3 of 5 stars More like a 2.5 I've been meaning to read something by this author for a long time and finally got around to it thanks to a buddy read. Unfortunately this book did not start to grab my attention until almost half way in. Now at the end of this installment, I feel like I'm not invested in the characters. I have issues with several of the things that happened in this installment, and some of it was predictable. That being said, right when I felt like things were starting to get going, the book ended! I will be reading the next installment before deciding if I'm going to finish reading this series, but I do not feel the need or want to start it right away. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Heart of Evil (Krewe of Hunters #2)

Image
Heart of Evil by Heather Graham My rating: 3 of 5 stars Two installments in and this series is just ok for me at this point. I feel like this story was a step back in the suspense and supernatural elements of the first one. Even though I rated both books the same, I would say that I probably enjoyed the first installment just a little bit more than this one. I am hoping the next installment will bump my enjoyment of this series up, especially considering what is mentioned in the summary. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Tiger's Eye (Stacy Justice #3)

Image
Tiger's Eye by Barbra Annino My rating: 3 of 5 stars While I am enjoying this series, it's missing something that prevents me from enjoying these installments more. I'm not sure what it is, but I don't really feel invested in these characters yet and I'm already at the half way point in this series. These are very easy books to follow and consume so I will be continuing through this series, but I'm going to take a little break before heading into the next one. View all my reviews
