#Book1CoziesClub: My Thoughts on Live and Let Chai (Seaside Café Mystery 1)

Image
Live and Let Chai by Bree Baker My rating: 4 of 5 stars Read for #MarchMysteryMadness I found this quite entertaining. I will be honest and say that some of the things our main character does wasn't the smartest, and my early prediction for the culprit was correct. That being said, the iced tea descriptions were great and I look forward to hearing more about the iced teas she offers in future installments. This one also came with recipes at the end, which I always appreciate. Looking forward to continuing this series! View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Stolen Tongues

Image
Stolen Tongues by Felix Blackwell My rating: 4 of 5 stars This one is hanging at a 3.75 for me. I usually stick to halves when rating but this really is between a 3.5 and 4 for me. This book started strong for me, but that feeling did not last the further I got into this book. It was not scary to me, but I would say I did feel a little unsettled. I'm sure if I was experiencing the events first hand, I would've been scared though. I listened to the audiobook and I think I did myself a disservice by doing that. The narration wasn't very good. The way the lines were narrated took away from the suspense for me and the voice used for the female character was irritating to my ears. I do believe that if I re-read this in the future and stuck to the print, I will probably feel different about this story. All in all, this was entertaining but not what I was hoping it would be. Books: My Thoughts on Six Four

Image
Six Four by Hideo Yokoyama My rating: 3 of 5 stars Read for #MarchMysteryMadness  I didn't enjoy this one as much as I thought I would. It's definitely not what I was expecting either. If you're looking for a really gripping mystery, this is not it. This is more family drama and office politics, though towards the end things do pick up. The end was underwhelming for me. I also listened to a good portion of the audiobook and can't say that I'd recommend it. The British accent of the narrator really brought me out of the story. Overall, this was not the type of mystery I usually go for, but it was interesting enough that I read it to completion. View all my reviews
