Apple Cider Slaying by Julie Anne Lindsey My rating: 4 of 5 stars It's been a while since I've read a cozy and I really enjoyed this one. I will admit that in the beginning, our main character was starting to grate on my nerves. I also couldn't see how there would be any kind of romantic connection with the person I presumed was going to be the love interest. By the end though, I enjoyed our main character and could get behind the romantic pairing as well. I will say though that I did listen to this on audio and I believe the way the characters were narrated is the main reason why I felt this way. I really enjoyed the relationship between our main character and her grandmother. I also really enjoyed the scenes where she reminisced about her grandfather. As someone who had a close relationship with my grandfather and still feel his loss, I could definitely relate to how she was feeling in those scenes. View all my reviews

The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan My rating: 4 of 5 stars More like a 3.5 This installment was very slow to start for me. It just didn't grab my attention until after the half way point. I enjoyed the last half of this book though and now it definitely feels like the series will be picking up for me. View all my reviews

Devils' Line, Vol. 14 by Ryo Hanada My rating: 4 of 5 stars More like a 3.5 - Whole series rating is also a 3.5 This series ended up not being what I thought it was going to be and that is what lead to my disappointment. This is a series about relationships, which is not my usual cup of tea. That being said, it was an entertaining read. We follow so many characters throughout this story that it felt more like we were having singular episodes with them instead of the series being a continuous story. A character I thought was going to be focused on more, ended up not being as important to the story as I thought they were going to be. Certain things were presented in a way that was confusing to me and I don't know if it was presented that way in order to keep the reader surprised with the reveal or if it was just the way I interpreted things. The Fourth Closet by Scott Cawthon My rating: 5 of 5 stars Probably more like a 4.5 This was my favorite installment of the trilogy. So much happened and the pacing was much faster. I almost feel like I need to re-read it immediately because things haven't yet settled in my mind yet. I listened to the entire trilogy from audiobook, so I think my next read through will be physically. The audiobooks were very entertaining, though Charlie's voice irritated me. Definitely looking forward to the other books in this franchise. View all my reviews

My Happy Marriage, Vol. 1 by Akumi Agitogi My rating: 4 of 5 stars More like a 4.5 I really enjoyed this one. The summary for this book does not mention that some of the characters in this world have certain gifts. It was a nice surprise and definitely helped to keep my interest. Tokyo Dreaming by Emiko Jean My rating: 4 of 5 stars I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first. I can't even say why because it would be a spoiler! I still enjoyed the story quite a bit. View all my reviews

Sharkwater Beach by Tim Meyer My rating: 4 of 5 stars More like a 3.5 I enjoyed this one more before the twist. The twist was just a bit strange for me and definitely not what I was expecting going into this one. Even with that, I still thought this was an entertaining and fast read. View all my reviews

Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey My rating: 4 of 5 stars Really enjoyed this one. I was surprised by how much it kept my interest as I usually have a difficult time with books this long. The torture scenes were a bit much for me at times, I will admit. I almost want to jump into the next one right away, but if the next one is anything like this one, it will take a bit of a time commitment that I just don't have at the moment. View all my reviews

The Loch by Steve Alten My rating: 4 of 5 stars In the end, I did really enjoy this book. It is unfortunate that the first 12 chapters made our main character so unlikeable to me that I almost stopped reading. Once we got past those chapters though, the investigation and attacks started to amp up and kept the pace of the story up through the end. Looking forward to the next one. View all my reviews

Sunburn by R.L. Stine My rating: 4 of 5 stars Entertaining read. For me, the end was predictable but I probably wouldn't have figured it out if I read this when the book was first published. Extinct by Charles Wilson My rating: 4 of 5 stars More like a 3.5 This was the right book at the right time for me. Definitely interesting and it kept me reading because I was in the mood for a sharky book. The action comes really late in the story though, which was a little disappointing for me. The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan My rating: 3 of 5 stars This one took me a long time to get into. I have to say it hasn't grabbed my attention like the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series did. At the end, things did start to get better for me. Now that things have been explained, I'm interested to see what happens in the next installment. I did listen to this one almost entirely. Maybe the change in narrator from the Percy Jackson series made a difference in my enjoyment as well? I will probably try to avoid the audio book for the next one and see if that makes a difference with my experience. View all my reviews

The Last Fallen Star by Graci Kim My rating: 4 of 5 stars More like a 3.5 I listened to a majority of this book. This one started off very slow for me, but it picked up at the end. Really enjoyed some of the references made within the story. If I hadn't been an avid watcher of Korean Dramas though, I think a lot of it would've gone over my head. The end was interesting enough for me that I will be continuing to the next installment. View all my reviews

This Wonderful Season With You by Atsuko Yusen My rating: 4 of 5 stars I really enjoyed this one. It was very sweet and I enjoyed the art style. I especially loved the fact that all the character's surnames were food related! This story worked better for me than [book:Dekoboko Sugar Days|48752709]. I do think that the additional pages in this volume helped the story development. This volume does contain mature content in the last chapter, just so you know. View all my reviews
