Graceling by Kristin Cashore My rating: 5 of 5 stars I really enjoyed this book. The audiobook was very entertaining as well. It almost gave me the feeling I was watching the story instead of reading it. There was enough suspense in the story to keep me interested and I really enjoyed going on this adventure with our characters. I'm looking forward to exploring this world more in the next installment. View all my reviews

Shark Beach by Chris Jameson My rating: 3 of 5 stars Picked this up for Shark Week. I have enjoyed this author's previous two books for prior year Shark Week reading and I enjoyed this one as well. I think [book:Shark Island|31450829] is still my favorite of the three, then [book:Devil Sharks|36742994], then this one. There were more unlikable characters in this installment and I just didn't enjoy how it all played out. It was still a very entertaining read for Shark Week and now that I've read all of this author's books, I'll need to find something else to read for Shark Week next year. View all my reviews

It's Manga Monday! Today I'm sharing my first impressions of The Apothecary Diaries and Land of the Lustrous. These were the July selections for my in real life manga club, which recently started meeting again. I thought I'd have a dedicated video to these selections in case anyone wanted to read and talk about the selections with me here. I also announce the August selections in case you want to read either of those to talk with me about them. My thoughts on the first book in the Paint & Shine Mystery series by Cheryl Hollon. The first book in this series was Still Knife Painting, and it was the #Book1CoziesClub selection for July. Anne of Windy Willows by L.M. Montgomery My rating: 3 of 5 stars Not my favorite of the series so far. I was familiar with a lot of what happened in this one, but was surprised at the differences between the adaptation I know so well and the source material. I did have several disappointments with things that happened in this installment and some of the characters were insufferable! The next installment should include material I am completely unfamiliar with, so I'm looking forward to that. View all my reviews
