Books: My Thoughts on Helicoprion

Image
Helicoprion by Michael R. Cole My rating: 4 of 5 stars I really enjoyed this one. It was exactly what I was looking for in a sharky read. It definitely is on the gory side though, so if that's not for you, you probably want to skip this one. I'm looking forward to checking out more of this author's work! View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Phantoms and Felonies (Haunted Mansion Mysteries 2)

Image
Phantoms and Felonies by Lucy Ness My rating: 4 of 5 stars More like a 3.5 I enjoyed this one, but I enjoyed the first book in this series more. It was definitely interesting having the more supernatural elements explored in this one, but it felt like it was missing something for me. Coincidentally, some of the things mentioned in this installment coincided with a TV show I was watching, so that brought a little more entertainment to this story for me. If more books in this series are released, I'd definitely be interested in reading them and seeing how our main character grows into not only her job, but her abilities. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Ghouls Gone Wild (Ghost Hunter Mysteries 4)

Image
Ghouls Gone Wild by Victoria Laurie My rating: 5 of 5 stars More like a 4.5 I really enjoyed this one on re-read that I had to raise my rating. I listened to most of it, but I finished it up physically. This one definitely amped up the physical dangers to the crew and this was a turning point in the series regarding some of the character relationships and the course of work our characters are doing. Really looking forward to the next one as I remember it being one of my favorites. View all my reviews

Books: Ghouls Just Haunt to Have Fun (Ghost Hunter Mysteries #3)

Image
Ghouls Just Haunt to Have Fun by Victoria Laurie My rating: 4 of 5 stars Really enjoyed revisiting this one. I think I did like this one better than the second. The TV show aspect really gave a different feel to this one and I enjoyed reacquainting myself with Heath. The audiobook was entertaining, but by now I can definitely say this is not my favorite way of experiencing this series. I will continue with the audiobooks though on my re-read of this series. Books: My Thoughts on House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City #1)

Image
House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas My rating: 5 of 5 stars More like a 4.5 If you had told me when I first started reading this that by the end of this book my rating would be this high, I wouldn't have believed you. That first section and a bit were very hard for me to get into. Thankfully I was buddy reading this with my friend Amy from AStar Reads, so I had someone to discuss this with along the way. That definitely helped until it got to the point where I really started to enjoy this story. This was my first experience with this author's writing and she definitely uses some techniques that I don't enjoy. Once I got past my issues with that and things started tying together, everything went so much smoother for my reading experience. Because I had such a hard time in the beginning with this one, I could not justify giving it a full 5 stars. I'm not much of an emotional reader and it takes a lot to get tears to roll do
