Books: My Thoughts on A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses 3)

Image
A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas My rating: 4 of 5 stars More like a 3.5 I found this to be enjoyable and entertaining however I would say that while I was very invested toward the end of the book, my investment was in and out for the first 75% of the story. I did choose to listen to this one by audiobook as I had done with the previous two installments but there has been a change in narrator. Not sure if that change was also a reason for my trouble in really getting invested in this story? I would definitely consider reading this one again in the future. I think that on re-read I would choose to read a physical or digital copy and see if my enjoyment increased with that version. There are so many different audio versions available now that I would also be open to seeing if a different narration would work better for me. All in all, I did enjoy this installment and I am interested to see where this story goes in the next installments. View ...

Books: My Thoughts on The Secret of Secrets (Robert Langdon 6)

Image
The Secret of Secrets by Dan Brown My rating: 3 of 5 stars While I found this to be an entertaining read, there were a few times where I thought the story dragged. Unfortunately, I believe this is probably my least favorite of the series. Overall, I did enjoy the story though and would continue in this series if another installment was released. Books: My Thoughts on Hooked on Ewe (Scottish Highlands 2)

Image
Hooked on Ewe by Hannah Reed My rating: 3 of 5 stars Read for #MarchMysteryMadness I enjoyed this one, but not as much as the first installment. I thought that due to some of the elements of this particular installment including mentions of yarn and knitting (with some crochet), that I would be more engrossed than I was considering those are hobbies I enjoy. Unfortunately, this one didn't really grab me, but it was still entertaining.  View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Mate (Bride 2)

Image
Mate by Ali Hazelwood My rating: 3 of 5 stars I enjoyed this but I didn't enjoy this installment as much as Bride. I wasn't very invested in this couple or the mysterious elements that arose. I think it largely had to do with how the characters are narrated on the audiobook. I might've enjoyed it more if I read the ebook copy instead, but the library holds did not work out that way for me. I will say that I did enjoy how the dual narration happened in this audiobook, where it sounded more like conversation would go as opposed to how sometimes the narrators trade off chapters. I just didn't really enjoy the presentation. All in all, I'm glad I was able to visit this world again even if it wasn't as enjoyable as the first. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on A Wonderful Christmas Crime (Christmas Tree Farm Mystery 6)

Image
A Wonderful Christmas Crime by Jacqueline Frost My rating: 3 of 5 stars Another cast of characters I enjoy reuniting with during the holiday season! Even though some of Holly's decisions had me shaking my head, I still enjoyed this installment and I always look forward to spending time with these characters. View all my reviews

Books: O, Deadly Night (Year-Round Christmas Mysteries 8)

O, Deadly Night by Vicki Delany My rating: 4 of 5 stars I always enjoy reuniting with our characters during the holidays. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Escape from Asylum (Asylum 0)

Image
Escape from Asylum by Madeleine Roux My rating: 4 of 5 stars More like a 3.5 It's been a while since I read the Asylum Trilogy, but I did enjoy this reading it as a stand alone installment. I listened to most of it by audiobook however I finished the last portion physically and I have to say that the pictures included in the book definitely enhance the reading experience. They gave me a little bit of an edge to the story that I had been lacking just listening to the narration. I do intend on reading the novellas in the future and will definitely keep this in mind when I pick that up. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Winter's Passage (Iron Fey 1.5)

Image
Winter's Passage by Julie Kagawa My rating: 4 of 5 stars I enjoyed this continuation of the events after Iron King. I wonder if this installment was really necessary to the story, but it was nice to spend just a little more time with our characters on their journey. I'm definitely interested to see what happens in the next installment. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on One False Note (39 Clues 2)

Image
One False Note by Gordon Korman My rating: 3 of 5 stars I was definitely more interested in this installment because of the music aspect. It is an entertaining story, but I found myself not being completely immersed while reading. It could be because of things going on in my life, but I am still enjoying the story and I'm looking forward to the next one. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on The Julius House (Aurora Teagarden 4)

Image
The Julius House by Charlaine Harris My rating: 3 of 5 stars This installment was just ok for me. In looking back, it's been almost 10 years since I read an installment in this series and I gave all previous installments 3 stars. I'm pretty sure I've seen the Hallmark adaptation of this one and enjoyed it but I just wasn't invested in this book. Truthfully, Roe got on my nerves a bit. Maybe it was the way she was narrated? All in all it was enjoyable enough for me to listen to the end. I'm not sure how I feel about the series on a whole, but I think I'll give it one more installment before I decide. Light Novels: My Thoughts on 86—EIGHTY-SIX, Vol. 3 (light novel): Run Through the Battlefront

Image
86—EIGHTY-SIX, Vol. 3 (light novel): Run Through the Battlefront by Asato Asato My rating: 4 of 5 stars I was already familiar with the story presented in this installment because I have watched and enjoyed the anime. That being said, I still enjoyed my time re-experiencing the story with these characters and I found the narration to be enjoyable. The next installment should be new material for me, so I'm really excited to finally get to some new story with these characters.  View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on The Wolf at Bay (Big Bad Wolf 2)

Image
The Wolf at Bay by Charlie Adhara My rating: 4 of 5 stars More like a 3.5 This installment focuses a lot on our main character's family backgrounds and the case was not as interesting as the first one. Definitely less enjoyable overall from the first for me, but I will still continue with this series.  View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Cult of Personality (Criminal Intentions 7)

Image
Cult of Personality by Cole McCade My rating: 4 of 5 stars As usual, an enjoyable installment. Case wasn't my favorite due to the aspects of it, but still an interesting investigation. Also glad to have some serious relationship progression in the series! Looking forward to the next one. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on The Reckoning (Zodiac Academy 3)

Image
The Reckoning by Caroline Peckham My rating: 4 of 5 stars As I get further in this series, I am enjoying it more and more however there are still quite a few things that I don't like. The two narrator audiobook was a much better reading experience for me than the Dramatized Adaptation, so if I do decide to continue listening to the series, I will be sticking to the two narrator version. Looking forward to continuing this journey.  View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Gated Prey (Eve Ronin 3)

Image
Gated Prey by Lee Goldberg My rating: 4 of 5 stars Enjoyable installment, though I did figure out the culprits very early in the story. Still finding the cases interesting and looking forward to continuing with the series. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Bone Canyon (Eve Ronin 2)

Image
Bone Canyon by Lee Goldberg My rating: 4 of 5 stars I enjoyed watching the case unfold in this one. Culprit wasn't on my radar at all, which is always appreciated. Looking forward to continuing with the series. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Ruthless Fae (Zodiac Academy 2)

Image
Ruthless Fae by Caroline Peckham My rating: 4 of 5 stars I enjoyed this installment much more than the first and I'm looking forward to continuing with the series. I experienced this one by the Dramatized Adaptation version of the audiobook as that was what was available from my library. I don't think those editions are for me, at least not for a first experience with a story. It would probably be a better experience to listen to those on re-read. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Disney in Shadow (Kingdom Keepers 3)

Image
Disney in Shadow by Ridley Pearson My rating: 4 of 5 stars More like a 3.5 Still interested in this series and the setting is fun, but there was something about this installment that wasn't as enjoyable for me as the previous installments. Will still be continuing with this series though and looking forward to seeing what happens next and which parks will be featured. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses 2)

Image
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas My rating: 4 of 5 stars More like a 3.5 For me, this installment really dragged. It took a very long time for me to get into the story and with it also being a very long book, the whole experience was just very slow. The second half of the book is definitely where things start to pick up and truthfully I'm a little surprised at how I'm feeling about this story. I thought for sure this would've been a solid 4 for me, but it's just not there. I will continue with the series as I have interest in seeing what happens next, but this installment was just a little better than ok for me. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on A Slay Ride Together With You (Year-Round Christmas Mystery 7)

Image
A Slay Ride Together With You by Vicki Delany My rating: 4 of 5 stars Another enjoyable installment in this series! One thing I do have to mention is that narrator changed for this one and while I still enjoyed the presentation, the feel of the characters was different for me due to this change. I'm still looking forward to the next installment as always. View all my reviews
