Striking Distance by Sarah Rees Brennan My rating: 3 of 5 stars I received a copy of this audiobook for free from the Audiobook SYNC program one summer. Without any other experience into the Fence comics, this was entertaining. I definitely preferred the story line presented between Aiden and Harvard to the story between Nicholas and Seiji. Even though it was entertaining, there were things that bothered me. Seiji definitely comes across with lots of sterotypes that I did not appreciate. For a book about a fencing team, there was very little reference to fencing at all. I would've liked to see them go to a meet or have scenes with them dueling each other for practice. I think I will read the next installment because I want to see where the story goes for Aiden and Harvard specifically. That being said, this type of story where there is more drama than anything is not my usual type of book. I'm hoping the next installment will include s

The Cardigans by Cole McCade My rating: 4 of 5 stars This was very entertaining. Very much like the TV shows I enjoy watching. I do think this installment would've hit better if I had read the book instead of listened to it. Some of the narration didn't jive with the view of the characters I had in my head, but I still enjoyed the journey. I will definitely be continuing with the series and am very interested in seeing where this season goes. View all my reviews

Date Me, Bryson Keller by Kevin van Whye My rating: 3 of 5 stars This was enjoyable, but the similarities to Seven Days: Monday–Sunday were very noticeable. I would consider this a re-telling of that story as the main premise is the same but there are differences. Not sure that I am comfortable with a re-telling of the story coming out not very many years after the story, which was eventually referenced as inspiration by the author, was published. I definitely recommend that you read Seven Days before reading this. I did listen to this on audio and I enjoyed the narration. The feel of this was very similar to what Seven Days gives but to be truthful, I enjoy Seven Days a lot more. This was an entertaining read, but I am conflicted because of issues that have been presented regarding the author not initially acknowledging the inspiration from Seven Days. I'm also conflicted because I feel like not enough time has gone by for a re-telling of a story to be released. View all my r

Seven Days: Monday–Sunday by Venio Tachibana My rating: 5 of 5 stars June 2021 - I really enjoyed this sweet story! Seeing each of them realize how they felt about each other through the week and how their time together is so much more precious as the days tick by kept me reading, even though I had only planned on reading a little of it before calling it a day. I ended up finishing this in one sitting and I thoroughly enjoyed it. June 2023 - My thoughts on this one have not changed. I enjoyed this re-read as much as I did my initial read.
