Books: My Thoughts on Crowbones (The World of the Others #3)

Image
Crowbones by Anne Bishop My rating: 4 of 5 stars As with all of the books in this series, I did enjoy reading this installment. It has been so long since I read Lake Silence , that I think a re-read would definitely have done me good prior to reading this installment. I think the fact that there has been so much time since I visited this world last, gave a feeling of disconnection for me with these characters. The story also opens during Halloween, so I think this would be a much better read if I read it during that time of the year. I did listen to most of this one and the narration was so entertaining. There were a few lines where I laughed out loud and even though this wasn't the five star read I was hoping for, it was definitely a good change for me since I have been in a bit of a reading slump. We also get a few cameos from characters we haven't heard from in a while, which was so nice. I will definitely be doing a re-read of Lake Silence , if not the whole series,

Finished Series: My Thoughts on Allegiant (Divergent #3)

Image
Allegiant by Veronica Roth My rating: 3 of 5 stars More like a 2.5 I had avoided this book for 7 years, but my TBR Game decided it was time for me to finish this series. I wasn't wrong in something I thought would happen at the end of this book. Being away from the series for so long didn't help the situation either as I do feel this installment relies a lot on how the reader feels about the couple. I did not feel connected to them throughout the series and much of the romance didn't help this installment for me. Am I glad I finally finished this series? Yes. Could I have gone the rest of my life not knowing how this series ended? Unfortunately, also yes. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Dead Silence

Image
Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes My rating: 4 of 5 stars More like a 3.5 There were definitely some interesting scenes in this book, but the main character was not enjoyable for me to read. The bouncing back and forth in the timeline also didn't help to keep my interest because of the things revealed during the present time. Considering how interested I was when I first heard about this book and how long it took me to read it, I do feel a bit let down. I did try a little of this on audiobook and that took me out of the story even more, so I stuck with the ebook. I listened to about an hour of the audiobook and the narration changed the feel of the story for me, making it less interesting and enjoyable. I will say that once we stay in the present timeline, things really picked up for me and I enjoyed it more from there. I will definitely try another book by this author in the future, but am a bit sad with how I feel about this one overall. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on While My Pretty One Sleeps

Image
While My Pretty One Sleeps by Mary Higgins Clark My rating: 3 of 5 stars Read for #MarchMysteryMadness Unfortunately a good portion of this mystery was highly predictable for me. It also includes one of the most hilariously unlucky assassins? I think of the entire story, he was the most entertaining to me. While this wasn't as entertaining as I hoped it would be, I am glad that I finally read a book by this author. View all my reviews
