Light Novels: My Thoughts on Juni Taisen: Zodiac War

Image
Juni Taisen: Zodiac War by NisiOisiN My rating: 3 of 5 stars An entertaining and interesting read. Unfortunately this story didn't pull me in as much as I had thought it would. I do think this story may work better for me in it's manga or anime format and I will be trying those out in the future. View all my reviews

Light Novel: My Thoughts on KinnPorsche, Vol. 1

Image
KinnPorsche, Vol. 1 by Daemi My rating: 3 of 5 stars I thought this was entertaining, but I don't know if I will continue with the series. While I thought the narrator did a good job, I didn't really enjoy the main characters together and I'm not really interested in seeing them work through things, including what happened/is happening at the end of this volume. I'm glad I was able to listen to this one as part of a subscription I have, but I don't think I will read any more unless the rest of the series is available through a subscription I already have or available from my library. Light Novels: Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho (Light Novel), Vol. 1

Image
Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho (Light Novel), Vol. 1 by Motoo Nakanishi My rating: 4 of 5 stars I don't usually enjoy historical settings anymore, but I enjoyed this one. I thought the narrator's presentation of the story was entertaining as well. I definitely picked up pretty early in the story the trajectory it would go so nothing really surprised me about it, though there was one element to the destination that I would've preferred was different. I will be continuing with this series and look forward to following Jinta on his journey. View all my reviews

Light Novels: My Thoughts on I Want to Eat Your Pancreas

Image
I Want to Eat Your Pancreas by Yoru Sumino My rating: 4 of 5 stars This one definitely made me shed a tear or two, which is not something that happens often for me with books. I ended up enjoying this story more than I thought I would. Though it is sad, there is lightness to it and I enjoyed spending time with the characters. I have a few by this author on my shelves, and I'm looking forward to experiencing those stories as well. View all my reviews

Light Novels: My Thoughts on SCP Foundation: Iris Through the Looking-Glass (SCP Foundation 1)

Image
SCP Foundation: Iris Through the Looking-Glass by Akira My rating: 4 of 5 stars I thought this was very entertaining. I listened to the audiobook and while I enjoyed the experience and thought the narrator did a good job, I wish I had a physical copy to combo read with it. Some details are redacted within the story and the way it's handled in the audio irritated me just a little over time. They do advise you at the beginning of the audiobook that this would happen so it wasn't unexpected, but I suppose it bothered me more to hear that sound than it would've to see how it would've been handled in the physical book. I enjoyed the experiences with the different objects and one of the earlier investigations just happened to connect to a subject I was reading about in another book at the same time. Interesting how those things go, but overall I thought this was an enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to reading the next installment. ...

Light Novels: My Thoughts on 86—EIGHTY-SIX, Vol. 3 (light novel): Run Through the Battlefront

Image
86—EIGHTY-SIX, Vol. 3 (light novel): Run Through the Battlefront by Asato Asato My rating: 4 of 5 stars I was already familiar with the story presented in this installment because I have watched and enjoyed the anime. That being said, I still enjoyed my time re-experiencing the story with these characters and I found the narration to be enjoyable. The next installment should be new material for me, so I'm really excited to finally get to some new story with these characters.  View all my reviews

Light Novels: My Thoughts on Riverbay Road Men’s Dormitory (Novel) Vol. 1

Image
Riverbay Road Men’s Dormitory (Novel) Vol. 1 by Fei Tian Ye Xiang My rating: 4 of 5 stars More like a 3.5 Enjoyable read and definitely different from what I usually go for. I was satisfied just checking in for a couple chapters here and there. Because of this, this was a much slower read for me than I anticipated. That being said, I am enjoying getting to know all of the roommates and will be checking out the next installment.  View all my reviews

Light Novels: My Thoughts on The Case Files of Jeweler Richard (Light Novel) Vol. 1

Image
The Case Files of Jeweler Richard (Light Novel) Vol. 1 by Nanako Tsujimura My rating: 3 of 5 stars These were entertaining stories, very light on the mystery elements. I think if you knew nothing about gemology, this would be a lot more of an interesting read than it was to me. I did enjoy the read and am looking forward to more with these two characters, but I think I might've set my expectations too high with this series. View all my reviews

Light Novel: My Thoughts on 86—EIGHTY-SIX, Vol. 2

Image
86—EIGHTY-SIX, Vol. 2 by Asato Asato My rating: 4 of 5 stars Really enjoying this series! This installment covers some of what happens in the second season of the anime. It wasn't new material to me, but I enjoyed it none the less. Looking forward to the next installment! View all my reviews

Light Novels: My Thoughts on Bungo Stray Dogs, Vol. 2 (Light Novel): Osamu Dazai and the Dark Era

Image
Bungo Stray Dogs, Vol. 2 (light novel): Osamu Dazai and the Dark Era (Bungo Stray Dogs by Kafka Asagiri My rating: 3 of 5 stars While I enjoy this series, this book moved very slowly for me. I'm glad I read it, but it took way to long to finish and I'm not quite sure why. I enjoyed the story, there was enough intrigue to keep my interest, but I was able to put this one down for long periods of time before picking it up again. I'll definitely be continuing with this series. I'm glad I know why Dazai left the Port Mafia and joined the Armed Detective Agency, but this installment felt just ok for me. View all my reviews

Light Novels: My Thoughts on 86—EIGHTY-SIX, Vol. 1

Image
86—EIGHTY-SIX, Vol. 1 by Asato Asato My rating: 4 of 5 stars Really enjoyed this one. I enjoyed seeing the squad and their handler get to know each other and grow in their partnership. The action scenes were interesting and I'm looking forward to continuing with this series, especially after what we find out with the epilogue. I listened to most of this on audio and I really enjoyed the narration. Will definitely be continuing with the audiobooks as well as the physical editions. View all my reviews

Light Novels: How to Win Her Heart on the Nth Try

Image
How to Win Her Heart on the Nth Try by Ichine Kamijo My rating: 4 of 5 stars Such a sweet romance. An easy read with lots of heart warming moments. Though I wish we had a little bit more at the very end, I enjoyed this one very much. View all my reviews

Light Novel: My Thoughts on The Haunted Bookstore - Gateway to a Parallel Universe (Light Novel), Vol. 1

Image
The Haunted Bookstore - Gateway to a Parallel Universe (Light Novel), Vol. 1 by Shinobumaru My rating: 4 of 5 stars This one was slow to start for me and not what I was expecting in the beginning. Towards the end, it got much better for me. It's definitely on the lower end of 4 stars for me but I'm looking forward to continuing with this series. View all my reviews

Light Novels: My Thoughts on My Happy Marriage Volume 4

Image
My Happy Marriage, Vol. 4 (light novel) (My Happy Marriage by Akumi Agitogi My rating: 4 of 5 stars I'm really enjoying this series. The reads are quick, the romance is wholesome, and there is a bit of mystery thrown in. Each installment Miyo gets stronger and more confident, but our couple are still having communication issues, which is slightly bothersome. That being said, I'm really looking forward to seeing what our couple will face in the next installment! View all my reviews

Image
Heaven Official's Blessing: Tian Guan Ci Fu (Novel) Vol. 1 by Mò Xiāng Tóng Xiù My rating: 3 of 5 stars This was just ok for me. Definitely not what I was expecting. It was entertaining, but it didn't draw me in. I will continue to the next one and see how I feel about the series after that one. Artwork within was gorgeous. View all my reviews

Light Novels: My Thoughts on My Happy Marriage, Vol. 1

Image
My Happy Marriage, Vol. 1 by Akumi Agitogi My rating: 4 of 5 stars More like a 4.5 I really enjoyed this one. The summary for this book does not mention that some of the characters in this world have certain gifts. It was a nice surprise and definitely helped to keep my interest.
