KDrama: My Thoughts on Thumping Spike (두근두근스파이크)

Image
Starring Song Jae Rim and Hwang Seung Eon 20 Episodes Sohu TV, 2016 Sports/Romance Comedy ✰✰✰✰ I have been obsessed with watching Cool Kiz on the Block tackle Volleyball. When I found out there was a drama involving the sport, I had to check it out! Ended up marathoning the entire series on DramaFever in one day.  Synopsis from DramaFever: Despite always coming in last, the Daehan High School Volleyball team aspires to reach the top. After a misunderstanding with the team captain, volleyball goddess Se Ra (Hwang Seung Eon), is stuck coaching this floundering team in order to dodge a potential lawsuit — however things aren't any easier when Daehan's star player, Jae Woong (Song Jae Rim) and Se Ra are constantly butting heads. Full of love for the sport — and increasingly, love for Se Ra — can the team turn around their game? Part sport, part comedy, and part Noona romance, this was a very entertaining way to spend my afternoon. There were several familiar ...

KDrama: My Thoughts on Oh My Ghostess

Image
16 Episodes tvN, 2015 Romantic Comedy, Food, Supernatural, Mystery Watched on DramaFever ☆☆☆☆ Wow, it has been a while since I finished a Korean Drama. MyDramaList tells me that the last drama I completed was Bride of the Century back on August 24, 2015, I started Oh My Ghostess on the same day and watched 6 episodes before I put it on hiatus. I decided to finally pick it up again on March 20, 2016 and marathoned 8 episodes in one day. At the peak of my Korean Drama Addiction, this was the norm for me. Every weekend we would have drama marathons where we would watch between 8-10 episodes of a drama in a day. In the last couple years though, this has died down quite a bit. Life, other hobbies, and my daughter's extra curricular activities kept us pretty busy. Busy enough that I stopped watching Korean Dramas all together for a time. As I had mentioned in my 2016 Goals post, I did want to kick up my drama watching again this year, and I've finally made a step towards t...

KDramas: Bride of the Century

I have been on a Kdrama slump all year. To date I think I have only watched 6 or 7 dramas this year. My average is about 20 dramas yearly. If you've read my previous posts on Kdramas, I did have a watching streak a couple months ago, but I haven't watched a drama since July. You may also notice that I watch my dramas a lot like I read my books. I do not usually watch a drama or read a book when it first comes out and I will usually wait until the entire drama is done or most of the books in a series are out until I start it. This might explain why I haven't gotten around to this drama until now. Let me tell you that this drama was so good, I not only started it this weekend but I also finished it! It's been a very long time since I've been able to say that about any drama. The drama I'm talking about is Bride of the Century with Lee Hong Ki and Yang Jin Sun. The story revolves around Choi Kang Ju, who is the eldest son and heir to the Taeyang Group, the l...

KDramas: I'm On a Roll!

So, it has been a while since I've been "addicted" to Korean Dramas. For a while there, I stopped watching all together. I was watching the variety shows 2D1N and Running Man, but I did not want to watch a drama or even continue the one that I had on the back burner. I needed a drama that would take me out of this rut, so I started The King's Face with Seo In Guk and Shin Sung Rok and am so glad I did. This drama is set during the reign of King Seongjo and is about his relationship with his son Gwanghae as well as Gwanghae's quest to become the next Crown Prince and eventual King. I really enjoyed this drama and thought that the practice of Physiognomy was very interesting. I thought the end was nicely wrapped up as well. Of course, seeing Seo In Guk's goofy grin was another plus, lol. Since I liked it so much, I decided to jump into the movie The Face Reader   with Song Kang Ho and Lee Jung Jae, which also deals with Physiognomy and power struggles in ...

Reading, Crocheting, Knitting & KDramas: What I've Been Up To

Image
Ok...I'm a terrible blogger LOL.  Truthfully, I'm still trying to figure out this whole blogging thing.  Should I put up a blog if it's only going to be a couple  sentences  is a question that runs through my head a lot.  You can tell that the answer to that question is always No, which is why you haven't heard from me in over a month, Sorry! I've been up to a few things, and thought I'd fill you in.  First off, if you recall at the end of 2014, I wrote a blog about my failed attempt at the Reading Challenge that year.  I just became uninspired to read from the middle of the year to the end.  The books I was reading at the time, just weren't grabbing me.  I put them on the side and didn't feel the need or want to pick them up or to even read anything else. Hence the failure  (╯︵╰,) I'm attempting the Reading Challenge again this year and of course got off to a rocky start.  I have just completed my first book of the year and ...
