Books: My Thoughts on Changing Faces (Criminal Intentions 4)

Image
Changing Faces by Cole McCade My rating: 4 of 5 stars A bit shorter than the previous installments, but still an entertaining read. The first chapter of this book was a little hard to read in regards to the content. This case did not hold the same intrigue as previous cases for me because it wasn't hard to figure out what happened. The interactions between Seong-Jae and Malcolm though... I listened to this one entirely via audiobook. The more I listen to the narrator, the move I'm enjoying the experience. I still don't enjoy the way Malcolm is narrated, but I'm getting used to it now and I do feel like the narration provides another layer of entertainment for me with this series. Looking forward to seeing our characters investigate the next case and hopefully we'll get back to longer installments. This one felt like it went by too fast. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on The Ghoul Next Door (Ghost Hunter Mysteries 8)

The Ghoul Next Door: A Ghost Hunter Mystery by Victoria Laurie My rating: 4 of 5 stars Ten years later, my rating has not changed. I never notated my thoughts on my first readthrough though so I'm documenting now. Enjoyed unraveling the mystery of this one, but I could pass on the relationship drama. It seems all our main characters were having relationship drama in this installment and that is not something I enjoy. I don't particularly care for what happened in regards to Steven either. He was never my favorite character to begin with though. The mystery was very interesting though and gave an edge of creepiness and suspense. Really enjoyed the investigation and am looking forward to my re-read of the next one. View all my reviews

Books: My Thoughts on Murder in the Family

Murder in the Family by Cara Hunter My rating: 3 of 5 stars I'm not sure that books in formats like this are for me. I didn't enjoy the experience of reading the transcripts, articles, forum posts, etc. I also read this on my very old E-ink Kindle and the graphics for the things outside the transcript were very hard to read. The graphics weren't crisp which also didn't help the reading experience. I'm sure it would be much nicer from a physical copy. I do think that this would work better as an actual TV show for me, but the reading experience was not very captivating. Also, toward the end when things actually started to be revealed, we ended up with a lot of unnecessary drama and things were done just for the ratings of their show. I did not enjoy how that all went down. I am willing to try something else by this author, provided that is not presented in a multimedia format like this one, but this one was a bit of a miss f...

Books: My Thoughts on Find Him Where You Left Him Dead (Death Games 1)

Image
Find Him Where You Left Him Dead by Kristen Simmons My rating: 3 of 5 stars This was entertaining for me but it didn't really grab me. I read about half from the ebook and listened to the other half. Neither experience was better or worse than the other for me, but I think I expected a bit more from this. It started out pretty good for me, but I soon found myself scanning pages instead of actually reading them when I was reading from the ebook. That is never a good sign for me. The twist at the end wasn't very surprising for me. At this point, I'm not sure that I will be continuing with this series. I'm not saying that I won't, but this isn't a series where I'll be waiting for the next installment to come out because I need to know what happens next. View all my reviews
