One False Note by Gordon Korman My rating: 3 of 5 stars I was definitely more interested in this installment because of the music aspect. It is an entertaining story, but I found myself not being completely immersed while reading. The Julius House by Charlaine Harris My rating: 3 of 5 stars This installment was just ok for me. In looking back, it's been almost 10 years since I read an installment in this series and I gave all previous installments 3 stars. I'm pretty sure I've seen the Hallmark adaptation of this one and enjoyed it but I just wasn't invested in this book. Truthfully, Roe got on my nerves a bit. Maybe it was the way she was narrated? All in all it was enjoyable enough for me to listen to the end. I'm not sure how I feel about the series on a whole, but I think I'll give it one more installment before I decide. 86—EIGHTY-SIX, Vol. 3 (light novel): Run Through the Battlefront by Asato Asato My rating: 4 of 5 stars I was already familiar with the story presented in this installment because I have watched and enjoyed the anime. That being said, I still enjoyed my time re-experiencing the story with these characters and I found the narration to be enjoyable. The next installment should be new material for me, so I'm really excited to finally get to some new story with these characters.  View all my reviews

Haunted by Heather Graham My rating: 4 of 5 stars More like a 3.5 I really enjoyed the investigative aspects of this one but I didn't enjoy the romantic aspects at all. I will be continuing with the series as I enjoyed most everything else about the story. I'm hoping that the romantic aspects won't be an issue for me in future installments of the series.  View all my reviews

Dark Lover by J.R. Ward My rating: 3 of 5 stars This is the perfect example for me of why I should always read the books I'm interested in right away instead of leaving them on my TBR for years. This one sat on my To Read list for more than 10 years and I definitely think that had I read it even five years ago I would've enjoyed it a lot more than I did. I also opted to listen to the audiobook version instead of reading physically, and the narration didn't add to my experience. The story was fine. I enjoyed our characters but nothing really grabbed me. At this point, I don't think I will continue with the series. I'll have to wait and see if what I've absorbed so far leaves a lasting impression. If it does, I'm open to continuing to the next installment.  View all my reviews
